Indeed, an engine with oil drained from the crankcase can work out what is called “idle” without load for several hours, but as always there are several “Buts”:
Under load, that is, in driving mode, the engine will die much faster. So, for example, when driving at high speeds, the engine will last for several minutes. In fairness, it must be said that even with the oil drained, an oily film remains on the surface of the parts, which will continue to protect the engine for some time.
Any situation leading to prolonged oil starvation will inevitably lead to engine failure and most often to costly overhauls.

Do not save on the cost of engine oil. Choosing between synthetic oil and semisynthetic or mineral, choose synthetics are more expensive, but their performance also matches the price.
